I have to admit I was not a very big fan of Star Trek because I was way too young back then to understand what the Star Trek fuss was all about. Luckily, I was able to get and watch the new Star Trek flick from Netflix, a free movies net online website and I could say I was visually impressed by J.J. Abram’s work.

Star Trek were simply stunning and visually stimulating; and I wouldn’t be surprised because with the computer technology and movie effects capabilities we have today, simulating a futuristic space environment is a lot possible and realistic compared with the past Star Trek movies and TV episodes. Sadly, the movie has its flaws and not all Star Trek fans may like it.

I have seen lots of great and not so great free movies net online. I have seen half of what’s listed at IMDb.com’s top 250 movie list and I could say Star Trek lacked substance which all great movies have. The story started out good but ended weakly. James Kirk was shown as a juvenile delinquent with no clear reason at all. I think Kirk’s supposed to be “brave” character was shown very poorly because the actor and director focused more on Kirk’s “coolness” factor which made the feel of the movie “shallow.” Kirk acted more like a dumb-jock douche than a courageous protagonist, sorry to say that. It’s sad to say that as the story unfolds and ends, there was no real moral value learned from the movie.

Another problem with Star Trek’s story are the unnecessary and unrealistic scenes (what are the chances of the old spock in that cave?) In the first place, one of the reasons why the Star Trek franchise became successful back in the day is because of the true science involved. I think if only the writers could have researched a bit more and used scientific terms instead of general sci-fi based terminologies, real and loyal Trekkers would appreciate the movie more.

Undoubtedly, this new Star Trek flick will attract non-fans to the Star Trek multi-verse. As for me, I will catch up and I’m getting all Star Trek movies and episodes from free movies net online websites and I will “boldly go where no man has gone before.”

Netflix Streaming HD Now Sign me Up! Microsoft has made it available in their gaming platform Xbox 360. You must use Xbox Live for the High Definition Streaming feature.  The Samsung BD-P2550, BD-P2500 and LG’s BD300 Blu-ray Disc players offer this capability as well.  TiVo announced today that Netflix HD Streaming is now available on the Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL DVRs.

Currently with the Netflix HD roll out the quality has been on par.  I am confident thru the first quater of the 2009 the quality will improve as well as HD Streaming library offerings.  Netflix itelf has admitted the HD titles are a modest selection of HD content.  Netflix has been open about the fact that the audio that comes with their streaming high-definition content is standard-definition quality, not HD.  I would assume this is one of the issues that will be addressed in the coming months.  The Samsung BD-P2550 and 2500 has 1gb flash memmory built into the players. This is useful for BD Live features and makes the experience easier and more enjoyable.  The LG BD300 has NO internal flash memory.   Samsung’s video upscaling of regular DVDs is Great!  I am very picky about video quality and I thought the picture looked spectacular.  Netflix looks to be ahead of the game and I am looking forward to watching my movies qued and ready to go!
