By Author

Besides great acting and a believable plot, movies can be made more convincing with the help of a little movie magic screenplay effects. Especially with sci-fi movies, the director’s challenge is to illustrate his perspective on the realm of the what-ifs and unknown to the movie-goers through mind blowing audio and visuals. It is crucial to have a couple of movie magic screenplay effects up the creative team’s talented sleeve. Below is a list of the top 5 sci-fi movie magic screenplay moments which will surely blow your mind wondering “how in the world did they do that!?”

5. Total Recall (1990) Total Recall

From Quaid’s exploding head nightmare to the totally cool safety zone security x-ray scene, you’ve got to agree that the movie magic screenplay effects in Total Recall was way ahead of its time.

Trivia: It’s one of the pioneers in CGI or computer generated imagery and one of the last major Hollywood blockbusters to use large scale set effects for miniature use.

4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) T2

This movie has been given 4 Oscar awards because of this production’s movie magic screenplay audio and visual effects. Who could forget the morphing T-1000 which could transform itself into liquid metal? Or that half human-half cybernetic face of T-800? Even Arnold’s real life daughter screamed at the sight of her dad’s face!

Trivia: The T-1000 CGI morphing effects costs a staggering $5.5 million. Not bad for a mere 3 and a half minutes of total appearance on the screen.

3. Jurassic Park (1993) Jurassic Park

What better way to remind us that human and dinosaurs should not be coexisting with each other but through Jurassic Park? The blood-curdling howl of the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the lifelike movie magic screenplay animatronics has fascinated movie aficionados about the possibility of dinosaurs ruling the earth… Again!

Trivia: Jurassic Park was the first movie to use the DTS Digital Surround Sound System, achieving that full and realistic audio effect.

2. Transformers (2007) Transformers

“Autobots, Roll Out!” hearing Optimus Prime’s voice in the big screen brings back fun memories from my teens when I used to watch the original cartoon version. In Transformers the movie, every movie magic screenplay scene is such an eye candy! The 3D effects was really awesome, the acting was… average and the sound effects seamless! I just wish they made the movie a little bit longer so that the character development in the movie would seem more natural. But overall, the movie was a great family experience. I hope they make the sequel (which is coming out soon) just as good or even better!

Trivia: the film’s $150 million budget was divided into 15 action sequences to make sure the visual effects did not overwhelm the live-action film components.

1. Iron Man (2008) Iron Man

This movie made me gawk at the screen with my jaws dropped! Seriously, this movie is the main reason why more sci-fi movies should be made. I give Robert Downey’s acting a 10, the visual and audio effects an off the scale 11 (remember that time when Tony Stark was making and trying out the suit? Sick visual effects!), and the way how the story went a 9! Iron Man was just stunningly beautiful. Great job, Hollywood!

Trivia: The filming of Iron Man has an estimated budget of $180,000,000 and was the first movie independently produced by Marvel Studios.
